Shaun Brown’s Cricket Coaching Academies offer young players across Melbourne, Perth, and Newcastle the opportunity to train with some of Australia’s most experienced cricket minds. Designed for cricketers aged 7–14, our winter academies focus on skill development, confidence building, and pre-season preparation, all delivered in a fun and supportive environment.
Meet Our Coaching Team
Shaun Brown – Founder of SBCC and one of Australia’s most experienced junior coaches. Shaun has spent over 40 years developing cricket talent and oversees the program across all locations.
Karen Rolton – Former Australian Test Captain and ICC Hall of Fame inductee. Karen leads the Karen Rolton Girls Academy in Melbourne, providing small-group coaching designed to empower and inspire young female cricketers.
Neil Buszard – Train this winter with Neil Buszard, former Australian baseballer, Premier Cricket legend (302 games, 4 premierships), and elite fielding coach to the Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes and take your throwing and fielding to the next level.

Shaun Brown Winter Academy 2026
Shaun Brown will be heading a full-scale Winter Group Academy again in 2026. He will be the head coach on all net sessions guiding a select small group of players preparing them for the upcoming season.
All sessions will run on Monday evenings at his centre “Clever Cricket” indoor centre on Thomastown starting June 9, 2025 & concluding September 15, 2025 and will feature
Program Highlights
- Group sessions covering all formats of cricket
- Ages 7-14 (grouped according to age and skill level)
- 8 net sessions, 2 fitness sessions & 2 advanced fielding technique sessions
- only $25 per hour
- 12 sessions in total (no sessions in school holidays)
- June 9 to September 15
- Winter Academy Students will also have access to
- International tours to India, New Zealand & the UK (ages 11-18)
- The annual winter full scale Practice matches booked of AFL public holiday September – Friday September 2026.
- 3 full scale realCricket matches (No Retirements, 40 over games – senior cricket rules) October/ November 2025 (Sunday)
- Exclusive member access & price to Clever Cricket indoor centre 7 days a week.

Karen Rolton All Girls' Sessions - Winter
Former Test star and Australian cricket legend Karen Rolton will lend her expertise to very small group sessions (4 per group) girls only. The sessions will be a chance to gain valuable access to Karen in a setting that allows for some one to one coaching while working with the group to improve.
